(Statement after visiting President of the Republic of Slovenia) NO to ideological war, YES to respecting State legal system

United Parents Initiative visited President of the Republic of Slovenia Mr Borut Pahor. On this occasion we presented arguments to president Pahor against the unconstitutional draft of Ac of organization and financing of education (ZOFVI-L).

The bill was marked as inappropriate by the legislative and legal service of the National Assembly and the Government, which, in the opinion of President Pahor, posed a risk that the Constitutional Court would consider this bill as unconstitutional.

The bill does not eliminate in justices, it brings additional stratification and prevents access to the non-state part school network in Slovenia to the most vulnerable groups. The bill takes away the right to morning and afternoon school care and additional instruction for more than 1500 pupils of non-state primary schools in all over Slovenia.

Both, United Parents and President Pahor will strive to find a wide solution to the problem of financing non-state primary schools that implement a publicly valid program. Instead of an ideological war, politicians should show enough wisdom not to create additional inequalities among citizens, and to limit the constitutionally protected rights of children and parents. Do not do unnecessary steps back!

United parents are offering a hand to politicians before the final decision in the National Assembly will take place, and we are ready to participate in the preparation of a new law that will regulate the field in a comprehensive manner and in accordance with the decision of the Constitutional Court. Just moving away from ideological pseudo-arguments and sincerely searching for a good proposal of law, will eliminate existing inequality. It is about time that our deputies would also want this.
